In 1979 the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW) was founded by Jock Leslie-Melvie who’s vision was to create an educational institution in conjunction with rescuing the endangered Rothschild Giraffe. Why visit Giraffe Centre? The purpose is to get educated about Kenya's wildlife and environment and to give both local and international tourists an opportunity to come into close contact with a wild animal by feeding the world's tallest species, the Giraffe. Some also term it as "feeding and kissing the Giraffes" For clients who crave intimate experiences we recommend staying at the Giraffe Manor by Safari Collections located in the Langata suburb of Nairobi. Most fascinating thing about staying here is that the Nubian Giraffe may visit during breakfast in the morning and in the evening, poking their long necks into the windows in the hope of a treat, before retreating to their forest.
