6 days elephant and rhino highlight safari explores  ol pejeta Meru national park  the home of rhinos and Samburu for the African elephant safari experience. Learn more  about the savanna elephant and the endangered black and white rhinos. Off to the beaten track safari to Meru National Park which gives you the real authentic safari feeling away from the crowds. A diverse park with a high land forest and a semi-arid lower plain dotted with termite mounds. The adjacent Nyambene hills are a catchment area and give rise to 13 rivers which flow through the Park and drain into Kenya’s longest river, the Tana. This gives the park a diversity in the avian life with over 400 bird species recorded. There is a rhino sanctuary giving you the opportunity to see this iconic beast. Lions leopards and cheetahs are the big cats here and big herds of buffalo ensure the predators survive. The beautiful lesser Kudu can be spotted here, caracals and not forgetting the amazing landscapes with the Mount Kenya in the shadows. The 6 days elephant and rhino highlight safari further takes you to Samburu game reserve. A Semi-arid paradise with the Ewaso Ng’iro bisecting the Buffalo springs and Samburu game reserve. The river attracts big herds of elephants especially during the dry season, the endangered grevys zebra seek shade in the doum palms that line the river banks. Enjoy as the elephants cross the river and mud bath to keep their skins in top condition. Samburu is also one of the best places to spot the elusive leopard. The unique Samburu five, Somali ostrich, reticulated giraffe, grevys zebra gerenuk and the oryx are highlights. On early mornings you can get the striped hyena lions and cheetahs. On the last two nights we spend at the olpajeta conservancy right at the equator. This is one of the best places to see both the back and white rhino in East Africa. It is also the last home for the critically endangered Northern white rhinos. You have an opportunity to ride with the rhinos in the endangered species enclosure where you get up close the raining two northern white rhinos. There is a blind rhino Baraka located at Morani center and here you can get up close and feed him. There is also the chimpanzee sanctuary which you can visit and learn more about a species that we share a close DNA with.

Day 1 Nairobi to Meru
Leave Nairobi Early in the morning and head to Meru National park. Explore Meru National Park after lunch. This is a complete unspoilt jungle. Dinner and overnight at the camp lodge

Day 2 Full Day at Meru National Park
We spend the whole day at Meru National Park with tailored game drive schedules to suit your needs. Meru National park is an unspoiled wilderness in Northern Kenya. With 13 rivers coursing through the rugged landscape with over 411 bird’s species singing melodious tunes. Enjoy as the elephant’s mud bath grevys zebra roll in the dust and the leopard hanging lazily from a tree. There are rhinos here too and a variety of Northern species like the reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. It was one of the two areas in which conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised the famous lioness called Elsa which was made famous in the book and award-winning movie Born free. The Lioness Elsa is buried in Meru National park and part of Joy's ashes were scattered on her grave site.

Day 3 Meru National Park to Samburu
After breakfast we do a game drive enroute and head to Samburu National reserve. We drive through different sceneries on the way as well as huge farms as it gets drier as we get close to the beautiful semi-arid reserve with a life-giving river snaking its way through it. We arrive in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon we head out for our 1st game drive in search of the African elephant, leopards’ lions as well as the African sunset.

Day 4 Full Day at Samburu
A tailored game drive to give you the maximum time and opportunity to explore Samburu national reserve, enjoy the elephants wallowing and enjoying the brown waters of the ewaso nyiro river, Reticulated giraffes dot the landscape, the spear horned oryx, the giraffe antelope, the gerenuk, the endangered grevys zebra and the unique Somali ostrich are some of Samburu’s highlights. It is also one of the best places to see the spotted beautiful cat, the leopard, birds of prey, the Somali bee eater beautiful woodpeckers’ cheetahs. The area is named after the beautiful Samburu people who reside in this area and they have co-existed with this amazing wildlife for ages. You can visit a cultural village and get to experience some of Kenya’s diverse culture

Day 5 Samburu National Park to Olpejeta
We leave Samburu conservation area after a morning game drive and head to olpajeta conservancy. Arrive in time for lunch and head out for the afternoon game drive . This is home to white and black rhinos, a chimpanzee sanctuary and as it is where the Northern hemisphere meets the south you get both the reticulated giraffe and the Masai giraffe, the endangered grevys zebra big cats as well as the African elephant. This is the only conservation area you find the last two northern white rhinos in the world, Fatu and her mother Najin. Sudan the last northern white male rhino also lived here at olpajeta conservancy in 2018 at age 45 years. You can meet the two northern white rhinos here through booing in advance. After the evening game drive, we head back to the lodge / camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Olpejeta to Nairobi
We take early morning and evening game drives or you tailor make your day with the help of your professional safari guide in order to suit your interest since this is a privately guided safari. Other activities you can undertake at olpajeta conservancy are night game drives, horse riding , lion tracking and also a visit to Morani and getting to feed a black rhino.
