Samburu National reserve, the hidden gem

Lets play and relax at Lake Naivasha

Our 9 Days Africa Safari Package Kenya takes us Kenya’s great rift valley to Lake Naivasha. It is here we break the vehicle monotony and do some out door activities. We can do some horse riding at the sanctuary farm and get up close to wildlife, later take a motored boat ride in search of hippos and bird life. Hells gate National Park at Naivasha gives you the unique opportunity to cycle as you watch giraffes buffaloes elands amongst other wildlife. You can also do walking safaris.

The spotted plains, the Masai Mara


Continuing our 9 Days Africa Safari Package Kenya , we venture towards the wildlife haven known as the Masai Mara, often hailed as the ultimate destination for wildlife enthusiasts and wildlife photographers. Renowned as the finest place in Africa to witness and delve into the intricacies of lion, cheetah, and leopard behavior, the expansive Savannah plains of the Masai Mara create a thriving ecosystem making it one of the most diverse safari destination in Africa. This diverse landscape sustains a multitude of herbivore species, providing the essential prey that keeps the big cats thriving in this natural paradise. From July to October, the iconic Great Wildebeest Migration unfolds, drawing vast herds from the Serengeti. The Mara River crossings become the pinnacle of this spectacular phenomenon as wildebeests attempt daring escapes from the predatory grasp of lions. Itinerary

Leave Nairobi Early in the morning and head to Meru National park. Explore Meru National Park after lunch. This is a complete unspoiled jungle. Dinner and overnight at the camp lodge

We spend the whole day at Meru National Park with tailored game drive schedules to suit your needs. Meru National park is an unspoiled wilderness in Northern Kenya. With 13 rivers coursing through the rugged landscape with over 411 bird’s species singing melodious tunes. Enjoy as the elephant’s mud bath grevys zebra roll in the dust and the leopard hanging lazily from a tree. There are rhinos here too and a variety of Northern species like the reticulated giraffe and the Somali ostrich. It was one of the two areas in which conservationists George and Joy Adamson raised the famous lioness called Elsa which was made famous in the book and award-winning movie Born free. The Lioness Elsa is buried in Meru National park and part of Joy's ashes were scattered on her grave site.

After breakfast we have a gamedrive as we exit the park and head to the jewel of the North Samburu game reserve. Arrive in time for lunch. Later in the afternoon we head out for our 1st game drive in search of the African elephant, leopards’ lions as well as the African sunset

A tailored game drive to give you the maximum time and opportunity to explore Samburu national reserve, enjoy the elephants wallowing and enjoying the brown waters of the ewaso nyiro river, Reticulated giraffes dot the landscape, the spear horned oryx, the giraffe antelope, the gerenuk, the endangered grevys zebra and the unique Somali ostrich are some of Samburu’s highlights. It is also one of the best places to see the spotted beautiful cat, the leopard, birds of prey, the Somali bee eater beautiful woodpeckers’ cheetahs. The area is named after the beautiful Samburu people who reside in this area and they have co-existed with this amazing wildlife for ages. You can visit a cultural village and get to experience some of Kenya’s diverse culture

We leave Samburu conservation area after a morning game drive and head to olpejeta conservancy. Arrive in time for lunch and head out for the afternoon game drive . This is home to white and black rhinos, a chimpanzee sanctuary and as it is where the Northern hemisphere meets the south you get both the reticulated giraffe and the Masai giraffe, the endangered grevys zebra big cats as well as the African elephant. This is the only conservation area you find the last two northern white rhinos in the world, Fatu and her mother Najin. Sudan the last northern white male rhino also lived here at ol pejeta conservancy in 2018 at age 45 years. You can meet the two northern white rhinos here through booing in advance. After the evening game drive, we head back to the lodge / camp for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast we leave olpajeta and head to Nyeri area and get into the Aberdare ranges locally known as Nyandarua ranges meaning the dry hide of a cow. We drive through the different levels of mountain vegetation as we come across animals like the giant forest hog, elephants, hyenas, cape buffalos’ duikers bushbucks and if lucky melanistic serval cat if not the rare melanistic leopard. We make stops for the enchanting landscapes as we ascend the ranges. Magnificent water falls like the Chania falls and Kenya’s biggest water fall, the karuru falls are to be found here and we get to explore them. The queens cave is not to be by passed as its not only breathtaking but it’s a story unto itself as it played as a hiding spot for Kenya’s freedom fighters the Mau Mau. It was also used by queen Elizabeth for picnic and the Magura falls makes it even a more magnificent spot. We later exit the park and drive for approximately 2 hrs. to Lake Naivasha for overnight

After an early breakfast we head out for a boat ride, about one hour in the only fresh water lake in the Kenyan rift valley that is home to hippos and over 400 bird species. Get pied kingfishers in action, the African fish eagle busy looking for the all-important protein source, the fish. Common carp is the most common fish here. After the boat ride we go for a horse ride or nature walk depending on your preference at the crescent island or the sanctuary farm. You can also do a bike ride as you watch wildlife, you will have a guide with you. Later drive to the Masai Mara with lunch on the way and reach in time for the evening game drive. Check in to the lodge/camp for dinner after the game drive

We have a very flexible itinerary and game drives are tailored to your interests with our experienced professional safari guide. Early morning game drive with picnic breakfast gets you higher probabilities of catching the sunrise, animals whilst they are still active. The morning serenity is just unexplainable, you just have to experience. Explore more of the spotted savannah with its diverse landscapes as to capture beautiful animals, with your lenses. The Mara river where river crossings happen in July August September is the main water body snaking its way through this paradise. Hippopotamus and the Nile crocodile call this home and it’s the best place I the reserve to catch a glimpse of them as they warm themselves in the river banks. Other rivers include the talek river and smaller tributaries like sekenani river. The sand river is another picturesque area at the Masai mara and it is right at the border with the endless plains, the Serengeti. After a fulfilling adventurous day, you retire back to your strategically located safari camp/lodge for sumptuous dinner and overnight

After early breakfast we head out for our Last game drive. Capture silhouettes of topis , giraffe elephant or even lucky a male lion silhouette. After an exciting morning game drive, we drive back to Nairobi
